Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Launches Partner Schools Programme
The Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens is launching the Partner Schools Programme tomorrow with its first school visit to GEMS Wellington Academy. Over 3,000 students from 18 schools across the country are expected to participate in the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Partner Schools Programme which encourages active lifestyles and healthy living.
Schools across the UAE have been invited to participate in the programme which was developed to create a legacy from the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens. The programme motivates children to get involved in sports such as rugby, promote active lifestyles and encourage healthy living. This will be implemented through a range of academic and sporting activities which children have the opportunity to participate in when the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens team visits.
Children across the country will be using the programme’s activities to learn about rugby and the participating nations in this year’s Tournament. The resources provided include the ‘Schools’ Rugby Workbook’, the fun ‘Adopt A Nation’ exercise and the creative ‘Design A Kit’ competition as well as the popular Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Passing Challenge with Sabaa the mascot.
In order to promote physical activity in a fun way, children are also able to learn the official Dubai Sevens 2015 Dance. The dance has been choreographed by the brand new Tennessee Cheerleaders who are flying all the way from the USA to entertain the crowds at the Tournament on 3-5 December 2015.
Donal Kilalea, Tournament Commercial and Operations Manager said: “The Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Rugby Progamme is an opportunity for us to create awareness of the game at the grassroots level and help children understand the importance of sports and a healthy lifestyle. We would like to thank all participating schools and we look forward to visiting you in the next few weeks.”
