2012 9th Asian Swimming Championships
Promoseven Sports Marketing was tasked by the UAE Swimming Federation andthe Dubai Sports Council to run the PR marketing and media for the event. This involved a press and radio campaign supported by social media. We handled the media accreditation and registration as well as the press conferences and interviews at the event. Our PR campaign involved an educational activity programme for schools to participate in the event.
Dubai was chosen as the hosting Country of the 9th Asian Swimming Championships that were held at the Hamdan Mohammed Bin Rashid Sport Complex from 15th to 25th of November 2012.
It was the first time in history that four disciplines were hosted in the same venue and the Organising Committee and UAE Swimming Federation were proud to have been given the chance to organize such a big event. The Asian Swimming Championship are a major aquatics event, held every four years among athletes from Asian countries. It is conducted under the governance of the Asian Swimming federation, the goverining body of aquatics in Asia.
After 11 days of intense competition, the powerful Chinese team left Dubai with a total of 50 gold medals in the bag. 33 out of a possible 38 of those were earned in the swimming events, seven out of seven in synchronized swimming, eight out of eight in diving, and two out of two in water polo. Japan claimed a total of three golds and Korea two.
