Fina World Divers To Make A Splash In Dubai

World diving superstars will arrive in Dubai next week ahead of the second leg of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series 2016 which will be held at the Hamdan Sports Complex from 17-19 March.

Dubai diving fans will once-again have the opportunity to watch a world-class sporting event with this year’s line-up featuring crowd favourite Tom Daley from Great Britain,  David Boudia of the USA, Jennifer Abel of Canada and Tania Cagnotto of Italy. A total of 69 competitors from 12 countries for both men and women will be competing for World Series Gold including a host of international newcomers looking to make an impact ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympics.

With the Rio 2016 Olympics just around the corner, competition is expected to be tough and as in previous years the Chinese team are set to dominate but not without threats from the likes of crowd favourite Tom Daley of Great Britain. Kick-starting his career as a 15 year old when he won the Gold medal in the 10 Meter Platform at the 2009 FINA World Championships, going on to win Bronze at the London 2012 Olympics, Daley has now booked his place at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

In support of the event, the UAE Swimming Federation is inviting all schools from across the UAE to attend the morning session of action from 10am until 12noon on Thursday 17th March,  students will be able to witness the 10 Meter Platform Synchronized Finals, an event which never disappoints.

“We are delighted to be welcoming the world’s best divers as well as newcomers to Dubai for the FINA/NVC Diving World Series. With such an impressive line-up as well as it being an Olympic year, we are set for a fantastic display of diving,” said Ahmed Al Falasi, President of the UAE Swimming Federation.

“It’s great that we will see the world’s best divers in Dubai and we encourage all diving fans and sport enthusiasts to come to one of the best aquatic venues in the world, the Hamdan Sports Complex from 17-19 March,” he added.

The 2016 FINA/NVC Diving World Series event consists of four legs and kicks off in Beijing on 11-13 March, then travels to Dubai, Windsor (Canada) before the last leg in Kazan (Russia) on 22-24 April. Divers compete for points and prize money at each of the ten events, in the categories of 3 meter springboard and 10 meter platform in solo, synchro and mixed synchro diving.

There will be two sessions on each day, from 10am-12 noon and from 5-8pm.

Tickets to catch all the action at the FINA/NVC Diving World Series will be available at the door at the Hamdan Sports Complex on the Emirates Road. Tickets are 40dhs per day, entry for children under 12 is free.
